ZA teams competing in MENA RMR Qualifier for Shanghai Major
The RMR events for the Perfect World Shanghai Major are underway, and we are excited to report that two Counter-Strike 2 esports teams filled with South African players are competing in the Middle East & Africa closed qualifier event. Here’s what you need to know so you can support the local teams.
Bravado & Punishers at MENA RMR Qualifier
Bravado Gaming, with four South African players and a Swedish APWer (learn more about Project Destiny 2.0), ran through the South African Open Qualifier alongside The Punishers to make their way to the MENA RMR Closed Qualifier recently.
From 28 to 30 August 2024, The Punishers and Bravado Gaming will compete alongside 6 other teams from the Middle East & Africa region for just one spot at the Asia-Pacific RMR qualifier, which in turn leads to a spot in the Perfect World Shanghai Major.
Teams competing:
- Bravado Gaming
- The Punishers
- NOM Esports
- POGGERZ
- JiJieHao
- DRILLAS
- Onyx Ravens
- UnluckyMuch?
The teams will compete in a double-elimination bracket. Elimination matches, and the grand final is best-of-three, while the rest are best-of-one. We are super excited to see if Bravado Gaming or The Punishers can make it through to the Asia-Pacific RMR event, which takes place in November this year. There’s only one spot up for grabs from the MENA Closed Qualifier, so it’s going to be a hectic one.
At the time of writing, I can’t find a specific stream where you can watch the MENA Closed Qualifier for the Asia-Pacific RMR. We’ll provide you with a rundown of what happened, however, so stay tuned!
