Capcom Cup X results and final day video
On 25 February 2024, Street Fighter 6 esports fans saw the epic conclusion of the Capcom Cup X event at the AVALON Hollywood & Bardot venue in Los Angeles, United States. It was an incredible event featuring the best players in the world, including South Africans Jabhi “JabhiM” Mabuza and Safraz “Ren” Muhammad! Here’s what went down.
Capcom Cup X results
Both South African players were placed in Group H, and unfortunately, neither JabhiM nor Ren could make it out of the Group Stage, but JabhiM did get relatively close to qualifying for the playoffs. Despite the early exit of the South African players, it was fantastic to see them compete on the world’s biggest Street Fighter esports stage for their share of the $1,734,000 prize pool.
There couldn’t have been a better story during Capcom Cup X, as Taiwanese player Wang “UMA” Yuan-hao, before the event, had approximately $7,000 in tournament winnings. Qualifying through the World Warrior Circuit for the Capcom Cup X, UMA topped Group G and proceeded to the upper bracket Quarterfinals of the playoffs.
UMA then shocked the crowd, going on an absolute tear with Juri, beating Kusanagi and Leshar with 3-0 scorelines. In the upper finals, however, UMA faced Hong Kong star playing for Yesports, Chris Wong, and narrowly beat his opponent 3-2.
Chris Wong made it through the lower-bracket finals to secure a spot in the Grand Final of Capcom Cup X, and possible revenge against UMA. However, with UMA’s winner bracket advantage, he beat Chris Wong 2-1 in the grand final, winning the $1 million prize in style.
