CDL Stage 3 Major results and final standings
There was a lot of top-tier Call of Duty esports for fans to digest at Stage 3 Major, aka the OpTic Texas Major, over the past weekend. In case you couldn’t watch all the action online, we’ve got you covered with the final results and standings for the major, which took place in Arlington, US.
CDL Stage 3 Major results
Twelve of the top Call of Duty esports teams in the world completed in an intense double-elimination bracket, with a whopping $500,000 on the line. At the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate, that’s roughly R9 million.
At the CDL Stage 3 Major, we saw hosts, OpTic Texas, get knocked down the lower bracket in the first round by
Boston Breach. However, OpTic Texas didn’t let their fans in the crowd down, as they overcame London Royal Ravens with a narrow 3-2 victory, followed by 3-1 wins against Florida Mutineers and Seattle Surge. Then, OpTic Texas took their revenge against Boston Breach with a 3-1 win and managed to beat Atlanta FaZe 3-1 to make it to the grand final.
Toronto Ultra had a smoother ride to the grand finals of the CDL Stage 3 Major, beating New York Subliners 3-1, followed by a 3-2 win against Boston Breach and a 3-1 win against Atlanta FaZe. In the grand finals of the CDL Stage 3 Major, OpTic Texas’ comeback run came to a halt, as Toronto Ultra managed to defeat the home ground team 4-2 to claim the trophy.
Final standings:
- 1st place – Toronto Ultra wins $200,000.
- 2nd place – OpTic Texas wins $120,000.
- 3rd place – Atlanta FaZe wins $80,000.
- 4th place – Boston Breach wins $40,000.
- 5th & 6th place – Las Vegas Legion and Seattle Surge win $20,000 each.
- 7th & 8th place – Florida Mutineers and Los Angeles Thieves win $10,000 each.
- 9th to 12th place – New York Subliners, London Royal Ravens, Minnesota RØKKR & Los Angeles Guerrillas
Congratulations go out to Toronto Ultra for winning the CDL Stage 3 Major and to OpTic Texas for clawing their way back from the lower bracket, giving the home crowd a lot to cheer about.
