RLCS 2023 World Championship viewer’s guide
We’ve seen some incredible esports action thanks to the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) sub-Saharan Africa events, and starting in August, it is time for the RLCS 2023 World Championship to begin. This mammoth event will feature South African players, including the dominating Limitless team.
Joining them is French Class, which also features two South African players! French Class beat Orlando Pirates Exdee with one point to make it to the RLCS World Championship. Here’s what you need to know about the RLCS 2023 World Championship.
RLCS 2023 World Championship details
The RLCS 2023 World Championship is a massive LAN event running from 3 to 13 August 2023. It will occur in Germany, Düsseldorf, at the PSD Bank Dome venue. Crowd days are from 11 to 13 August.
There’s a lot at stake for the 24 teams competing in the form of a mammoth $2.1 million. At the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate, that’s roughly R38 million. Both Limitless and French Class from the sub-Saharan Africa region will compete at the start of the event, in the Wildcard stage. Below, you will find the dates and format of each stage of competition during the RLCS 2023 World Championship tournament.
- Wildcard Stage (3 to 6 August): A 16-team Swiss System format, where all matches are best-of-seven. The top eight teams from this stage proceed to the Group Stage.
- Group Stage (8 to 12 August): There are two groups of eight teams. Each group features a double-elimination bracket, where all matches are best-of-seven. Top four teams from each group advance to the playoffs.
- Playoffs Stage (13 August): A single-elimination bracket with the final eight teams, where all matches, including the grand final, are best-of-seven.
