ACGL launches bi-weekly FragPunk tournaments
South African tournament organizer, African Cyber Gaming League (ACGL), keeps on growing in its 10th year of operation. In case you missed it, ACGL introduced Ranked titles earlier this year, and now, the tournament organizer is jumping on a new 5v5 hero-based shooter, FragPunk. Let’s jump in!
FragPunk events at ACGL
ACGL has announced bi-weekly Fragpunk tournaments, calling on players to team up and get their Lancers ready. For those who don’t know, FragPunk is a brand-new hero-based FPS title featuring teams of five players, released for PC via Steam on 7 March 2025 by developer Bad Guitar Studio.
I’ve briefly tried FragPunk and I must say, I am enjoying it a bit more than Overwatch in its current state. It’s awesome to see a local tournament organizer jump on FragPunk so quickly. Its Shard Cards system, allowing you to break the rules of combat, makes every single round unique, which is quite refreshing.
In any case, you should gather your team and head on over to ACGL’s FragPunk page. Entry into the tournaments is free of charge. The first FragPunk event has already been complete on 25 March 2025, but there are more to come. In fact, you should expect a tournament every two weeks (that’s what bi-weekly means).
The next FragPunk event takes place on 8 April 2025, so ensure that you and your team sign up!
There are prize pools up to R1,000 per cup to compete for as well.
Don’t forget to stay up-to-date with all their announcements by following ACGL on Twitter and Facebook and joining their Discord server.
