Train soon to enter CS2 Active Duty map pool

In the early hours of the morning on 14 November 2024, the iconic Train (de_Train) map returned to Counter-Strike with a meaty CS2 update. Since then, we’ve been wondering when Train will actually enter the Active Duty map pool. If you are a big fan of Train like I am, then let’s discuss the imminent esports return of Train.

Train in CS2 Active Duty map pool

Train is not in the Active Duty map pool for CS2 just yet, which means esports fans and Premier Mode enjoyers will have to wait a little bit longer. However, I am happy to report that Train is part of BLAST Bounty 2025 Season 1, which began this week, on 14 January 2025.

There’s some more good news. Valve, via the official CS2 account on X, has confirmed that it will replace Vertigo on the Active Duty map pool before the BLAST.tv Austin Major gets underway on 9 June 2025.

The map might just enter the Active Duty map pool much sooner than June 2025. BLAST is already using it in BLAST Bounty 2025 Season 1, as mentioned previously. Further, IEM Katowice 2025 will also use Train, and that tournament starts on 29 January 2025.

It’s clear that Valve is getting Train ready to move from the Reserve Group to the Active Duty group, with the latest update on 10 January 2025 making some nice big adjustments and some fixes to the iconic map:

  • Fixed various minor visual bugs and gaps in world
  • Added dirt and wetness onto crates and tarps where appropriate
  • Widened opening on A site between Hell and Tunnels
  • Opened container door on back of the train near Ivy/Tunnels
  • Added dumpster by Ivy
  • Added barrels in A site cubby
  • Pushed back T spawns a little

I believe we’ll see Train officially enter the Active Duty map pool at the end of January or early February, but that’s just a guestimate.
