South African CS2 star MisteM benched at NIP
There aren’t many Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) players from South Africa competing in top-tier events. One of the standout stars is undoubtedly Gareth “MisteM” Ries, who used to compete for local organizations such as ATK and Sinister5 before moving on to Young Ninjas and then, last year, graduating to the main Ninjas in Pyjamas squad.
Unfortunately, I’ve got some bad news to share. Gareth “MisteM” Ries has been benched on the NIP roster in what is the organization’s second roster rebuilt in a year.
Taking to Twitter (X), MisteM retweeted the NIP roster rebuild announcement video and stated:
“Just want to say thank you to NIP for having faith and trusting in me even though it was for a short period I know they have to make some hard decisions sometimes. With that being said, I know I have a lot to show and prove within the scene. My time will come one way or another.”
New NIP Roster:
- Marco “Snappi” Pfeiffer
- Rasmus “sjuush” Beck
- Artem “r1nkle” Moroz
- Michel “ewjerkz” Pinto
- Rafael “arrozdoce” Wing
At the time of writing, MisteM’s future is unclear. The young South African-British IGL is excellent, and we can’t wait to see what he does next. Gareth “MisteM” Ries was reportedly the “future of NIP” at the previous roster rebuild in September 2024.
