In the “land down under,” we saw the best CS2 esports teams in the world compete at IEM Melbourne 2025 from 21 to 27 April 2025 for their share of the massive $1 million combined prize pool. IEM Melbourne 2025 highlights
After a thrilling Group Stage, only six of the 16 teams remained to compete in the single-elimination Playoffs Stage in front of a huge crowd at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
On the one side of the bracket, Team Falcons convincingly beat GamerLegion and MOUZ with 2-0 scores, losing only a few rounds throughout the two matches to make it to the Grand Finale. Team Falcons showed just how powerful of a squad they are now that Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov has been reunited with Nikola “NiKo” Kovač on the star-studded roster.

On the other side of the bracket, The MongolZ reverse-swept Team Liquid to make it to the Semifinals, where they got obliterated in a 2-0 by Team Vitality, only winning six rounds in total.
In the IEM Melbourne 2025 Grand Final, Team Vitality kicked things off with a dominating 13-2 win on Inferno. Team Falcons instantly responded with a 16-12 win on Dust II, forcing overtime and tying up the score 1-1. Vitality pulled ahead again with a solid 13-9 win on Train, and Falcons responded with a 13-10 win on Mirage. On the fifth and final map, Nuke, both squads gave it their all, and after triple overtime, Team Vitality came out victorious with a score of 22-20.
With the 3-2 win in the IEM Melbourne 2025 Grand Final, Team Vitality lifted the coveted trophy in front of the roaring crowd and also claimed an additional $1 million as they became the fifth team in history to complete the Grand Slam. A big congratulations go out to Team Vitality, who are absolutely dominating the CS2 esports scene in 2025, and to Team Falcons for coming exceptionally close to a win.
