Your viewer’s guide to BLAST Slam V

As the dust is still settling over PGL Wallachia Season 6, another massive Dota 2 tournament is about to begin this week. We are, of course, talking about BLAST Slam V, first taking place online and then heading to China, where teams are competing for a huge prize pool. Here’s what you need to know.

BLAST Slam V important details

BLAST Slam V kicks off this week with an online portion. The tournament runs from 25 November until 7 December, featuring 12 of the best teams in the world. These teams are competing for their share of the $1 million prize pool. At the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate, that’s roughly R17.3 million.

The tournament starts with an online stage, featuring 12 teams competing in best-of-one matches with a Round Robin format. The top two teams advance directly to the Semifinals of the Playoffs, while the 3rd to 8th place teams advance to the Play-In Stage, and the 9th to 12th place teams advance to the Last Chance Playoffs. In the Last Chance stage, all matches are best-of-three, with the winner advancing to the Play-In Stage. During the Play-In Stage, all matches are BO3. Winners advance to the Quarterfinals, while the rest are eliminated.

At the Wuliangye Culture & Sports Center in China, the final six teams will compete in front of a crowd on LAN, from 5 to 7 December 2025. Tundra Esports is, of course, looking for their fouth BLAST Slam trophy, having won three in a row thus far, while TI14 champions Team Falcons are looking to add even more silverware to their cabinet.
