The Game Awards 2025 esports nominees revealed

We are approaching the end of the year, which means there’s a lot to celebrate. It’s been a fantastic year for gaming and esports, and we’ve enjoyed dozens of tournaments along the way. As one of the biggest end-of-year shows, The Game Awards 2025 features some esports categories, so let’s take a look.

Esports at The Game Awards 2025

First and foremost, you can head to The Game Awards’ official website to cast your vote, selecting the nominees in the categories you think deserve to win.

There are three categories at The Game Awards 2025 focused on esports: best esports game, best esports team, and best esports player. Check them out below, and start voting today!

Best Esports Game:
  • Counter-Strike 2
  • VALORANT
  • Dota 2
  • League of Legends
  • Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
Best Esports Athlete:
  • Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut
  • Brock “brawk” Somerhalder
  • Jeong “Chovy” Ji Hoon
  • Jason “f0rsakeN” Susanto
  • Kakeru “Kakeru” Watanabe
  • Saul Leonardo “MenaRD” Mena Segundo
Best Esports Team:
  • Gen.G Esports – League of Legends
  • NRG – VALORANT
  • Team Falcons – DOTA 2
  • Team Liquid – Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
  • Team Vitality – Counter-Strike 2

Two VERY odd omissions have to be the lack of T1 as a “Best Esports Team,” and the GOAT of League of Legends, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, under the best esports athlete category. After all, T1 won Worlds 2025, becoming the back-to-back-to-back champions, and Faker became the only player in history to win six LoL Worlds events.

It’s a bit odd, innit? Well, we’ll find out who wins soon enough. The Game Awards 2025 takes place on 11 December 2025, so don’t miss out. You can watch the entire show for free on YouTube, Twitch, and many other platforms.
