Don’t miss TTGE at Comic Con Africa
There’s a whole lot of esports action taking place this weekend at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, with Comic Con Africa running from 28 to 31 August 2025. If you are in the area, you definitely shouldn’t miss out, especially with all the fantastic activities South African esports organizer The Toyota Gaming Engine (TTGE) has planned.
If you attend Comic Con Africa, you should 100% visit the unmissable TTGE stand. The organizers are firing on all cylinders to make Comic Con Africa 2025 as memorable as all the ones that came before it. At the TTGE stand, you’ll be able to participate (completely for free) daily on the stage, signing up to compete for prizes.
You can compete in the likes of Street Fighter, EA FC, and Brawlhalla on console, Clash Royale and Subway Surfers on mobile, and Gran Turismo 7 on the SIM rigs, with a rotation of games on stage.
Big prizes to be won
A total of over R25,000 in cash, Takealot vouchers, hardware prizes, and experiences are up for grabs across the four days of Comic Con Africa.
The Musical Chairs game will return (SIM rigs tag team), where the champions will win an “Advanced 4×4 Driving Academy course” and some merchandise to sweeten the pot even more.
The famously celebrated Musical Chairs (SIM rigs tag team) game will be revving at full bars on the main stage, and winners will walk away with an Advanced 4×4 Driving Academy course and merch!
The VP of Marketing at Toyota South Africa Motors, Glenn Crompton, explains: “Comic Con Africa gives us a chance to connect with everyday gamers and fans who simply love the culture. Through our partnership, we’re making Toyota performance more accessible, both in-game and in real life, while continuing to support the growth of gaming in South Africa.”
Meet and beat your heroes
There’s really a lot to do at the TTGE stand, including a return of a popular activity debuting at Comic Con Cape Town, which the announcement explains:
“Comic Con Africa is a pop culture spectacle, and we want you to rub shoulders with the people that make it exactly that! Three of SA’s greatest cosplayers will be there to showcase their look and their matching Toyota. Then, back by popular demand and fresh off his Comic Con Cape Town debut, Troy Shepherds will entertain on socials and in person. With this kind of cast hanging out at the TTGE stand, the photo opps will have your friends, followers and future fans drooling.”
