Tekken 8 EWC 2025 viewer’s guide

Fighting game fans are in for a treat this week, with Tekken 8 taking centre stage at the Esports World Cup 2025 mega-event. Let’s get ready to brawl with the essential details so you don’t miss out on any of the action.

Tekken 8 EWC event details

It’s one of the biggest Tekken 8 tournaments ever, with 32 teams competing for a massive $1 million prize pool. At the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate, that’s just under R18 million!

The contestants will fight their hearts out in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, in front of a crowd from 14 to 18 August 2025 to find a champion. There are three stages of competition, starting with eight groups of four players each, where all matches are first-to-2, and the top two advance to the second phase.

In the second phase, the remaining players are split into four groups (GSL-style format), with the top two from each group advancing to the third phase. In the third and final phase, the top eight players will fight in a single-elimination bracket, where all matches are first-to-5.
