For Counter-Strike 2 esports, there’s no slowing down! The dust hasn’t even settled over the PGL Major Copenhagen, where Na’Vi destroyed the hopes of FaZe Clan, and now it’s already time for the next big event, Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Chengdu 2024, to begin. Here are the most important details.

IEM Chengdu 2024 details

Hosted by ESL, IEM Chengdu 2024 takes place in Chengdu, China. This is a LAN event with a prize pool of $250,000 (roughly R 4.7 million) and forms part of the Intel Grand Slam series. The winner also earns a spot at IEM Cologne 2024.

The playoffs will take place at the Wuliangye Chengdu Performing Arts Centre in front of a live crowd, making for a very exciting week. IEM Chengdu 2024 kicks off on Monday, 8 April, and runs until Sunday, 14 April 2024. There are 16 teams competing, including the likes of Cloud9, FaZe Clan, G2, Astralis and more. The action begins with a Group Stage featuring two double-elimination GSL-style format groups.

Opening matches in the group stage are BO1, while all other matches are BO3. The top three teams from each group advance to the playoffs, while the rest are eliminated. In the playoffs, we will see the six remaining teams compete in a single-elimination bracket, where all matches, including the grand final, are BO3.
