As one of the first tournaments in the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 mega-event taking place in Paris this year, Dota 2 esports fans are in for a treat. Here’s everything you must know about the EWC 2026 Dota 2 tournament, so you don’t miss any of the action.
EWC 2026 Dota 2 Event Details
Taking place at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles venue in Paris, France, the EWC 2026 Dota 2 event runs from 7 to 19 July 2026. The qualified Dota 2 teams will compete for their share of the $2 million prize pool. At the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate, that’s roughly R33 million.
There are three stages of competition. The action begins with the Group Stage, featuring four groups of six teams each. The format is Round-Robin, with two-game series, where the top team from each group advances directly to the Playoffs Stage. Teams who finish 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in each group advance to the Survival Stage, while the bottom two teams from each group are eliminated.
Four teams will make it out of the Survival Stage to join the four others who already made it to the Playoffs Stage. In the Playoffs Stage, the format is a single-elimination bracket, where all matches are best-of-three, except for the Grand Final, which is best-of-five.
