Cache set to return in CS2’s Active Duty map pool

It’s finally happening! After what feels like forever, the iconic Cache map will finally return to competitive Counter-Strike soon. Yes, Cache is going to be featured in official esports events as part of the Active Duty Map Pool. Here’s when you can expect Cache to return, and which map it replaces.

Cache’s return to Active Duty

The long-awaited return of Cache to the Active Duty Map Pool will occur once the current season of CS2 Premier ends. That’s on 6 July 2026, so mark those calendars!

In case you didn’t know, Cache was last featured in the Active Duty Map Pool back in CS:GO, and was removed in 2019. A CS2 remake was later announced by the map’s original creator, Shawn “FMPONE” Snelling.

Valve announced the long-awaited news on X, accompanied by the details on which map Cache is set to replace.

Yes, Overpass is getting replaced, as expected by many experts. The map only lasted roughly a year in the Active Duty Map Pool.

  • Mirage
  • Inferno
  • Nuke
  • Ancient
  • Anubis
  • Cache
