The leg ends with Sinister5 proving once again that professionalism and consistency is key, as they retain the top spot of the masters leaderboard. They are followed by Leetpro in second place and White Rabbit Gaming in third. Although both WRG and Leetpro went undefeated in this leg, team politics and shock transfer moves towards the end of the leg forced both teams to forfeit their remaining games.

In the middle of the table we see both Epoch Esports and Aperture Gaming scoring a respectable four wins each. ApG is a team I can only describe in one way – EE 50/50! They showed great promise by beating Sin5 earlier this year and took a game off Leetpro, but got crushed by Epoch Esports and recently lost to Exdee Gaming (although this was in a Ballistix match). It certainly hasn’t been a consistent ride for them.

At the bottom end of the standings, Exdee Gaming are hanging on by the skin of their teeth to keep a spot in the masters. They went 1-6 in leg two. Fortunately for Exdee, the one game they did win was against their tiebreaker Salt Dota2 who now drop out of masters. The other team that dropped out was Band of Brothers, who in fact beat Exdee during this Masters leg but paid the price for forfeiting two games which gave them no points, whereas a loss gives a team one point.

Promoted to VS Gaming Dota 2 Masters

With Band of Brothers and Salt dropping out of the masters, Goliath Gaming and Retrokill Gaming move up from the premier division into the Masters for Leg 3. It is a first time in Masters for Retrokill, captained by FeNIX. Retrokill have done well to break into the Masters but they will definitely need to raise their game if they want to stay there. Goliath Gaming, on the other hand, is a well known team who had the misfortune of facing Sin5 in the VS Gaming Playoffs at the beginning of the year which doomed them to first division. They’ve finally regained their footing in Masters with sweeps all through first and premier divisions.

Changes in the Dota 2 scene

Most notably we’ve come to the end of an era with the remarkable WRG squad breaking up. They have been undefeated since their reign of dominance began when they beat the dominant Bravodo team the end of the 2016 masters finals and they disband undefeated. The disband comes as Castaway moves to SEA to pursue his dream of being a pro dota player and Chidowi and Welp move to Leetpro. WRG have stated they will be rebuilding with Schlinks and oDu and are on the prowl for skilled players.

APG are also on the hunt for new talent with BobEuls, Modase, and Mental staying on an rebuilding. Leetpro have dropped TKC and Chelsea in favor of the WRG legends. Whether the move is for better or worse for Leetpro, only time will tell. Another notable change sees Hunter stepping down from the active Exdee Gaming lineup.

We have some big changes in the scene and with us getting closer to the masters finals at Africa’s first Comic Con, there’s glory, pride, and R500k of prize money at stake! With WRG rebuilding, Leetpro fielding a dream team, and Sinister 5 always on the verge of greatness, the race is on for who will be the best in country. Leg 3 takes place between 28 May and 24 June 2018, so make sure you check back on Esports Central for all the results and wrap-ups of the biggest matches as we build up to the Championships! Who do you think will take the top spot?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″ offset=”vc_hidden-xs”][vc_basic_grid post_type=”post” max_items=”8″ style=”load-more” show_filter=”yes” element_width=”12″ gap=”10″ order=”ASC” filter_style=”dropdown” filter_default_title=”Matches” filter_align=”right” filter_color=”blue” item=”2271″ initial_loading_animation=”none” grid_id=”vc_gid:1526548246787-08fdfe9f-a08c-7″ taxonomies=”71, 84, 86, 88, 90, 92, 94, 110″ filter_source=”category” el_class=”results” css=”.vc_custom_1524549333759{background-color: #30303d !important;}”][vc_custom_heading text=”ALL MATCHES” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:10|text_align:center|color:%23ffffff” use_theme_fonts=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1523611106929{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 5px !important;background-color: #30303d !important;}” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fesportscentral.co.za%2Fall-matches%2F|||”][vc_empty_space][vc_basic_grid post_type=”post” max_items=”8″ style=”load-more” show_filter=”yes” element_width=”12″ gap=”10″ filter_style=”dropdown” filter_default_title=”Results” filter_align=”right” filter_color=”blue” item=”2271″ initial_loading_animation=”none” grid_id=”vc_gid:1526548246788-72a0db72-2631-0″ taxonomies=”76, 85, 87, 89, 91, 93, 95, 111″ filter_source=”category” el_class=”results” css=”.vc_custom_1523718077456{background-color: #30303d !important;}”][vc_custom_heading text=”ALL RESULTS” font_container=”tag:p|font_size:10|text_align:center|color:%23ffffff” use_theme_fonts=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1523611113209{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 5px !important;background-color: #30303d !important;}” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fesportscentral.co.za%2Fall-results%2F|||”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
