LoL Worlds results & highlights – DRX denies T1

League of Legends esports fans has had a fantastic time watching the 2022 World Championship (aka Worlds 2022) take place. The crowing event of the year came to a thrilling conclusion this past weekend during the playoffs at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California. Here’s what went down.

The playoffs teams, during October and moving into November, competed for the chance to lift the Summoner’s Cup and their share of the massive $2,225,000 prize pool. At the current Dollar to Rand exchange rate, that’s roughly R41 million.

T1, on the back of the legendary Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, barreled through the playoffs, beating Rogue with a 3-0 and JD Gaming 3-1 to make it to the grand finals of Worlds 2022.

On the other side of the bracket, DRX made a miraculous comeback against EDward Gaming, winning 3-2 after going down 0-2 at the start of the match. DRX then managed to beat Gen.G Esports 3-1, but not before going 0-1 down at the start of the match as well.

In the grand finals of Worlds 2022, we saw T1 go up against DRX, and it was a sight to behold. T1 took the first game, while DRX responded instantly with a win in the second game. Then, T1 pulled it back once again to take a 2-1 lead.

However, DRX couldn’t be denied, taking the next two games in an absolutely thrilling grand finale to win Worlds 2022 with a 3-2. T1’s Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, showcasing his legendary skill, won the MVP award.

A big congratulations go out to DRX for winning Worlds 2022, lifting the Summoner’s Cup and claiming $489,500 in prize money. T1 gets $333,750 for their valiant efforts. JD Gaming and Gen.G Esports get $178,000 each for their 3/4th place finishes.
