As the first Major of the year, Dota 2 esports fans are in for a treat with the Lima Major 2023. It kicks off this week, featuring 18 of the best Dota 2 teams in the world. Here’s what you need to know, so you don’t miss out on a second of the action.
Lima Major 2023 details
The Lima Major 2023 will take place in Lima, Peru, at the Arena 1 venue. It runs from 22 February until 5 March 2023 and will feature a $500,000 prize pool and a whole lot of DPC points (1900). It starts with a Group Stage running from 22 to 26 February 2023.
The Group Stage features two groups of nine teams each, with a single round-robin format, where all matches are best-of-two. The top four teams from each group advance to the upper bracket of the Playoffs, while the 5th and 6th-placed teams earn a spot in the lower bracket of the playoffs; the rest are eliminated.
From 28 February to 5 March 2023, the Lima Major playoffs will take place. This is a double-elimination bracket affair, where all matches are best-of-three, with the exception of the grand finals, which is a best-of-five slugfest.
