Dota 2 legend Peter “ppd” Dager out of Sadboys

It’s been a wild ride for fans of the Dota 2 esports legend, Peter “ppd” Dager, who back in the day won The International 2015 with Evil Geniuses.

In April 2020, we reported on ppd‘s retirement, and early this year, we covered his return to competitive Dota 2 with Sadboys. Now, Peter “ppd” Dager has announced he is out of the squad, and is unsure about his future for the next DPC season.

ppd out of Sadboys

Sadboys ended fifth in the DPC Season 1 North America Upper Division recently. This means they were one spot shy of a chance at a spot in the Singapore Major Wild Card tournament. Shortly after the DPC Season 1 matches ended, Peter “ppd” Dager took to Twitter.

ppd explained: “We finish 5th this first DPC season. Disappointing result for us but at least we still have a shot at the next major. Congrats to EG and QCY Crew, good luck in Singapore.”

Just two days later, ppd announced he was out of Sadboys, stating: “Officially out of the team. Not sure if I’ll be competing in season 2. Hopefully, I can do some more casting. Appreciate the support.”

He was, of course, the captain of Sadboys, and the position 5 player. At the time of writing, there’s no indication of who might replace ppd.

The current Sadboys roster is:
  • Clinton “Fear” Loomis
  • David “dnm” Cossio
  • David “Moo” Hull
  • Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu

Sadboys will be participating in the BTS Pro Series Season 5 this week and is expected to use a stand-in. It will be interesting to see if ppd returns to Dota 2 esports once again, and which form his return will take.
